Therapy for adults with depression, anxiety, substance use issues and more in Columbus, Ohio.
About Me
I have worn many hats along my career path before Blue Boat, from working night shift on an inpatient unit to being a clinical director. I have worked with clients of all ages, but find I resonate most with adults. In addition to the clinical expertise gained from working with a wide variety of clients, I bring a lot of life experience to my sessions. I am the youngest of a family of five children and I am married with one son.
I work to build rapport with my clients and to earn their trust so they come to believe they can share whatever they need to during a session. My philosophy is to meet people “where they are” in terms of what they want to work on and their readiness to make changes. I use motivational interviewing to assist clients in moving along their path, as well as cognitive behavior therapy techniques to help them explore how their thoughts and actions may be helping or hindering their journey. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which may be beneficial in helping clients to move through issues they are having trouble getting beyond.
My Experience
- I received a BA in Psychology from Rutgers University, an AAS in Mental Health and Chemical Dependency from Columbus State Community College, and an MS Ed in Counselor Education from The University of Dayton.
- I am an LPCC-S, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory designation (E.0003859-SUPV) and an LICDC-CS, Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor with Clinical Supervisory designation (LICDC.001383) in the state of Ohio.
- I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
- I have worked the majority of my career in outpatient community behavioral health and as well as nearly a decade in private practice.
